Qualification Requirements

To be eligible as a health fund provider you must hold an accredited qualification. The current industry qualifications for massage therapy are the Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice (HLT40302/07 or HLT40312) and the Diploma of Remedial Massage (HLT50302/07). These qualifications can only be provided by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), which is a government accredited training facility, such as TAFE or a private college.

Massage Australia is accredited by various health funds for both Massage Therapy and Remedial Massage.

HCF and Medibank Private, along with the minimum level of qualification (Diploma of Remedial Massage) to be eligible as a provider, they also require a minimum duration of training.

All new members wishing to register as a provider with either HCF or Medibank Private must meet the duration requirements of either 12 months full time or 18 months part time. This is based on an academic year. These requirements are for the Diploma only and do not included the Certificate IV component. Once your membership has been approved at Professional Plus level, Massage Australia will provide you with the necessary information concerning your registration instructions for both HCF and Medibank.
